A Letter to Every Enneagram Type 6

Dear Friend,

If you are an Enneagram Six, there is something I hope you will one day believe more deeply than your fears.

You do not have to be certain before you can trust.

Somewhere along your journey, you learned that the world could be unpredictable.

People disappoint.

Plans fail.

Circumstances change.

Promises are sometimes broken.

So you became watchful.

You learned to think ahead.

You anticipated problems before they happened.

You asked difficult questions others ignored.

You prepared for tomorrow while everyone else was enjoying today.

These are beautiful gifts.

God has given you discernment. You see dangers that others overlook. You are loyal, dependable, courageous, and deeply committed to the people you love. You are often the one who remains faithful when everyone else has walked away.

The world needs people like you.

But every gift casts a shadow.

What began as wisdom can slowly become a life governed by fear.

Without realizing it, you begin believing that if you can prepare for every possibility, you can protect yourself from every disappointment.

So you think.

You analyze.

You question.

You prepare.

You rehearse conversations that may never happen.

You imagine outcomes that never arrive.

You carry burdens that do not yet exist.

The tragedy is not that you prepare.

The tragedy is that you can spend so much time preparing for life that you forget to live it.

Your ego whispers,

"What if...?"

What if this fails?

What if they leave?

What if I make the wrong decision?

What if I cannot handle what comes next?

Soon one question becomes another.

And another.

Until uncertainty begins to feel larger than God Himself.

There is another burden you carry.

You long for security.

So you search for someone—or something—you can absolutely trust.

A leader.

A church.

A political movement.

A company.

A philosophy.

A relationship.

You hope that if you find the right authority, your uncertainty will finally disappear.

Sometimes you place too much trust in others.

Sometimes you trust no one at all.

You can move between dependence and suspicion without realizing that both are born from the same fear.

The truth is, no human being can provide the certainty your soul longs for.

Only God can.

Scripture says,

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."

Notice those last words.

Do not lean on your own understanding.

For a Six, that is an invitation into freedom.

Not because your understanding is flawed.

But because your understanding was never designed to carry the weight of your soul.

There comes a moment when every contingency has been considered.

Every risk has been calculated.

Every question has been asked.

And still...

A step of faith remains.

Jesus never promised His disciples certainty.

He promised His presence.

Those are very different things.

He did not say,

"You will always know what comes next."

He said,

"I am with you always."

That promise changes everything.

Courage is not the absence of fear.

Courage is discovering that God's presence is greater than your fear.

Perhaps that is why the most courageous people I have ever known were not fearless.

They simply trusted Someone greater than themselves.

Your vigilance is a gift.

Your loyalty is a gift.

Your discernment is a gift.

But they were never meant to become your identity.

Your identity is not found in being prepared.

It is found in belonging to the One who already knows tomorrow.

Long before you worried about your future...

God was already there.

Long before you imagined every possible outcome...

He had already gone before you.

Long before you wondered whether you would be enough...

He had already called you His beloved.

Your Soulprint was never built upon certainty.

It was built upon trust.

Trust that God is present even when life feels uncertain.

Trust that His grace will meet you in places your plans never could.

Trust that you do not have to control tomorrow to faithfully live today.

The world does not need another anxious soul trying to predict every storm.

It needs someone who walks into uncertainty with quiet confidence because they know who walks beside them.

The ego will always whisper,

"Be afraid. Prepare for everything."

The soul gently whispers,

"Fear not, for I am with you."

Listen to that voice.

Walk with that voice.

Rest in that voice.

And you will discover that the security you have searched for your entire life was never found in perfect plans.

It was found in the faithful presence of God.

That is where your Soulprint has always been waiting.
