A Letter to Every Enneagram Type 7

Dear Friend,

If you are an Enneagram Seven, there is something I hope you will one day discover.

You do not have to keep running to find joy.

Somewhere along your journey, you learned that pain was dangerous.

Disappointment hurt.

Loss was overwhelming.

Sadness felt like a place you might never escape.

So you did what your remarkable spirit does so well.

You looked toward the horizon.

Toward the next adventure.

The next idea.

The next possibility.

The next dream.

You discovered that life was filled with beautiful things waiting to be explored.

And you were determined not to miss any of them.

These are beautiful gifts.

God has given you an extraordinary capacity for joy. You see opportunities where others see obstacles. You inspire people with hope. You remind weary souls that life is still filled with beauty, laughter, wonder, and possibility. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Your imagination is boundless.

The world needs people like you.

But every gift casts a shadow.

What began as joy can slowly become escape.

Without realizing it, you begin believing that happiness is always somewhere else.

Just over the next hill.

Just after the next trip.

The next relationship.

The next business.

The next spiritual experience.

The next chapter.

The next beginning.

So you keep moving.

You collect experiences.

You gather stories.

You chase possibilities.

You fill your calendar until there is scarcely a quiet moment left.

Yet something inside of you still whispers,

"There must be more."

The tragedy is not that you love life.

The tragedy is that you can become so busy chasing life that you never fully inhabit the one you have already been given.

Your ego whispers,

"Don't stop."

"Don't slow down."

"Whatever you do, don't stay here too long."

Because somewhere beneath all of the excitement is a fear.

What if you become trapped?

What if life becomes ordinary?

What if you finally have to face the pain you have been outrunning?

So you keep smiling.

You keep laughing.

You keep planning.

You keep dreaming.

Others admire your energy.

Few people notice your exhaustion.

There is another burden you carry.

You can become addicted—not simply to pleasure—but to possibility.

Every unopened door feels more exciting than the room you are standing in.

Every future feels more beautiful than the present.

Every new beginning seems more promising than faithful perseverance.

The irony is heartbreaking.

The life you long for is often hidden inside the very moment you are trying to escape.

Joy is not found by constantly moving.

Joy is found by becoming fully present.

Scripture tells us,

"Be still, and know that I am God."

Those words are not merely an invitation to silence.

They are an invitation to stop running.

To stop striving.

To stop searching for tomorrow long enough to discover that God has already arrived today.

Jesus was never in a hurry.

Crowds followed Him.

People interrupted Him.

Opportunities surrounded Him.

Yet He was never driven by urgency.

He was completely present.

He could celebrate at a wedding.

He could weep at a tomb.

He could sit beside a well and patiently speak with one lonely woman.

He did not rush past sorrow.

He walked through it.

Because He knew something many of us forget.

Joy and sorrow are not enemies.

They belong together.

The deepest joy is not the absence of suffering.

It is discovering that God is present within it.

Your enthusiasm is a gift.

Your optimism is a gift.

Your imagination is a gift.

But they were never meant to become your identity.

Your identity is not found in what you experience.

It is found in the One who is present in every experience.

Long before your first adventure...

Long before your first dream...

Long before you discovered the beauty of possibility...

God delighted in you.

He was not waiting for you somewhere in the future.

He has always been with you in the present.

Your Soulprint does not live on the next horizon.

It lives here.

Now.

In this breath.

In this conversation.

In this ordinary day that you may be tempted to overlook.

The world does not need another person racing from one extraordinary experience to another.

It needs someone who has discovered that the most extraordinary place in all of creation is the present moment filled with the presence of God.

The ego will always whisper,

"Your happiness is waiting somewhere else."

The soul gently whispers,

"The Kingdom of God is already among you."

Stay.

Breathe.

Listen.

Do not be afraid of silence.

Do not be afraid of sorrow.

Do not be afraid of stillness.

For it is often there—when the noise has faded and the running has stopped—that you will finally hear the quiet voice that has been calling your true name all along.

And you will discover that the joy you spent your life pursuing was never ahead of you.

It has been walking beside you from the very beginning.

That is where your Soulprint has always been waiting.
