A Letter to Jesus from All Ennegram Types
Dear Jesus,
We come to You as Ones, Twos, Threes, Fours, Fives, Sixes, Sevens, Eights, and Nines.
Nine different ways of seeing the world.
Nine different ways of protecting ourselves.
Nine different ways of hiding.
Nine different ways of forgetting who we truly are.
Some of us have spent our lives trying to be perfect.
Some have tried to be needed.
Some have chased success.
Some have searched endlessly for themselves.
Some have hidden behind knowledge.
Some have lived in fear of tomorrow.
Some have run from pain.
Some have trusted only their own strength.
Some have disappeared into the background, hoping peace would somehow find us.
Different personalities.
Different stories.
Different wounds.
Yet somehow, we all arrive at the same place.
At Your feet.
Because beneath every personality lies the same longing.
To be known.
To be loved.
To come home.
Lord, we confess that we have often mistaken our ego for our identity.
We believed the voice that told us to perform.
To protect.
To compare.
To control.
To achieve.
To escape.
To withdraw.
To please.
To perfect.
To hide.
And somewhere along the journey, we forgot that none of those voices ever spoke our true name.
You did.
When we read the Gospels, we see something in You that is unlike anyone who has ever lived.
You never hurried to prove Yourself.
You never compared Yourself to another.
You never manipulated people into loving You.
You never sought applause.
You never clung to power.
You never defended Your reputation.
You never built Your identity upon success, security, knowledge, or control.
You lived from a deeper place.
Again and again, You withdrew to be with the Father.
Again and again, You listened before You spoke.
Again and again, You acted not from fear but from love.
You were completely present.
Completely human.
Completely surrendered.
You showed us what a soul fully alive looks like.
You lived from the place where heaven and earth meet.
That is where we long to live.
Not from our fears.
Not from our compulsions.
Not from the stories our wounds continue to tell us.
But from the place within us where Your Spirit quietly whispers,
"You are My beloved."
Teach the One to rest.
Teach the Two to receive love.
Teach the Three that they are more than their accomplishments.
Teach the Four that nothing essential is missing.
Teach the Five to trust beyond understanding.
Teach the Six to walk in faith instead of fear.
Teach the Seven to discover joy in the present moment.
Teach the Eight that vulnerability is not weakness.
Teach the Nine to awaken to the life You have already given them.
And teach all of us that our personality is not our prison.
It is simply the place where Your grace first meets us.
Lord, awaken us.
Awaken the parts of us that have fallen asleep.
Heal the places where fear became our master.
Restore the image of God that has always remained within us, waiting beneath our defenses, our ambitions, our anxieties, and our endless striving.
Help us to understand that transformation is not becoming someone else.
It is becoming who You already know us to be.
May Your Beatitudes become the rhythm of our hearts.
May Your Spirit become the breath of our souls.
May Your love become stronger than our fear.
And may we discover that Your Kingdom is not merely something waiting beyond this life.
It begins within us.
Not when our personalities disappear.
Not when our wounds are forgotten.
But when every part of who we are is gently surrendered to You.
One day, Lord, may people no longer recognize us primarily by our Enneagram number.
May they recognize Christ.
May they see a people who have learned to love without fear...
to lead without pride...
to serve without needing recognition...
to create without comparison...
to think without withdrawing...
to trust without anxiety...
to celebrate without escaping...
to protect without controlling...
and to live without disappearing.
Until, at last, the voice we hear most clearly is no longer the voice of the ego trying to preserve itself...
but the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit reminding us who we have been all along.
Your beloved.
Your children.
Your image bearers.
Our Soulprint.
Amen.
— On behalf of every soul still finding its way home.
